Geometric Framing : Balance

Welcome to Week Three of p52.2 : Framed. So far, we have looked at geometric shapes as framing elements and in repetition. This week, our assignment is a balancing act. Geometric shapes naturally attract our attention and therefore have inherent visual weight. When placed in the frame with a primary subject they can act as a secondary subject. When the weights of the two subjects are placed well in the frame, just as on a scale, the composition will be balanced.

Our year-long collaborative blog project is dedicated to composition and artistry. Please click HERE to read more about our project. The gallery mosaic is randomly sorted every time you load the page so please Refresh the page in your browser to see a different view. Please click on the individual images to see a larger version on the artist’s website and, in some cases, a series of related images.
